Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Hello Me Therapy different from other therapy practices in Oregon?

Clients at Hello me get a consistent time to meet with their therapist which creates a cadence of support that helps clients thrive. Our therapists are all trained in a brain based therapy which means not only are they easy to talk to, they have tools to help you make your healing easier.

Back to the questions

Do you take insurance?

We do and we also provide superbills for insurance that we are not in network with. We want to make sure we can be available to as many people as possible, and happy to talk through the options we offer. New providers to our team may take 1-6 months to get in network with all of our insurances, but ultimately providers are in network with the following insurances: CareOregon, Moda, PacificSource (commercial only), and Aetna.

Back to the questions

What does the first session usually look like?

The first session typically lasts about 50 minutes and is a mix of logistical information and some clinical information. We have clients complete their intake paperwork 2 days prior to their first appointment so that your therapist has time to review it before meeting with you. This ultimately helps them ask more specific questions about your lived experience and also what you are looking for from therapy. Your therapist is also happy to answer questions that you may have about the therapy process, or logistics.

What’s the difference between individual therapy and therapy intensives?

Individual therapy is typically a longer term commitment, and usually is a mix between traditional talk therapy with some brain based therapy sprinkled throughout. Individual therapy is consistent and ongoing support similar to what most people think of when seeking therapy.

Therapy intensives are longer sessions that are often great for folks looking to get a lot done in a smaller amount of time. Typically we utilize a brain based therapy to help clients experience movement on a topic or event that they may feel stuck on. With therapy intensives, clients do not necessarily have to be seen at Hello Me long term or leave their current therapist, but can be seen for short periods of time.

Back to the questions

Will you help me lose weight?

Our practice is aligned with Health at Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating which do not promote intentional weight loss. People’s bodies do change, and sometimes their bodies get smaller however we look at this from a weight-neutral lens. For most clients who are set on losing weight, Hello Me is not a good fit.
